Chundukwa River Lodge is one of the oldest properties in the area, having been established in 1965, and has always been authentically Zambian owner run. It is ideally located only 25kms from the resort town of Livingstone, which is famous for the mighty Victoria Falls. The best way to get to Chundukwa is to fly into Livingstone International Airport, where the lodge will have a driver waiting to collect you. Some might prefer to fly into Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Airport, where once again transfers can be organised. For self-drive guests, the lodge is located on the Zambezi River, along the stretch between Livingstone and Kazangula Bridge (Botswana).

Chundukwa Lodge is built right on the banks of the Zambezi River, offering stunning private views of the river from all of the rooms, as well as from the bar, pool, deck and entertainment areas. As mentioned before, unlike other lodges, Chundukwa is not located in the town of Livingstone itself, but rather a short distance away, so guests have a much more private and personal experience. The owners are very nature based, and also have a horse ranch and organic gardens.

The lodge offers 2 different types of accommodation, the all inclusive Riverside Chalets or Chundu Cottage, which can also be hired on a fully-inclusive, full board, dinner bed and breakfast or self-catering options.

The owners are very proud of the fact that they built Chundukwa River Lodge themselves, and that all building materials and furniture are produced in Zambia from locally burnt clay bricks, to sustainable local reeds, Kalahari sand, recycled wood and steel. Local artisans were hired, including weavers, thatchers, tinsmiths, tailors, welders and carpenters from the nearby villages. The chalets are made from wood, with thatched roofing and walled with a Kalahari sand and cement mixture, in keeping with the traditional local method of walling.
